Why have some motorbikers stopped nodding to other motorbikers when out riding? This is making my partner very angry, he says he feels like never nodding again to a fellow motorbiker, but then the tradition is lost.

lots of road manners seem to have gone by the wayside, how many people put their hand up to say thanks for letting them in or go before you now,is very low.its a shame, but thats your new motorists of the day now

i've been going out on the back of my partners bike for the last 8 years and have to say i've never seen a fellow motorbiker not nod back.... they're always doing it down here! the 1st couple of times i went out i thought it was really funny!! but having said that quite a lovely tradition. the same sort of thing used to happen when i was a child with people that had the same sort of cars - they always used to put their hand up to each other (my dad had a saab and my uncle a volvo and i can remember each of them doing that!!) but i have to agree with NORMANTHEDOG it comes down to manners and politeness at the end of the day and lots of don't know what these things are these days.....
maybe they don't know they are supposed to?

or maybe they are too busy concentrating on the road and traffic and safety to concern themselves with it?
I find the further away from a city you are the more nods you get. I ride around the Berkshire countryside a lot and 9 out of 10 bikers prefer nodding. Ride through London and 0 out of 10 like a nod. Maybe something to do with the amount of motorcycle couriers in cities (I've never seen one nod yet) or as Joko states they're concentrating on traffic......

Scotland is great for riding, we don't nod but always give a cheery wave .... fantastic!
Every time I am out on my bike and nod or wave I always get one back.
