Insurance Claim for written off car - Any advice?
5 Answers
My car has just been written off after a drunk driver crashed into it whilst it was parked up at night. The insurers offered 1600 initially, when I said no they upped this to 1750 and are saying this is their final offer. From looking on various websites and in local car sales garages similar cars seem to be going for around the 2000 mark. I did tell the insurers this, and that I still have 1500 to pay off the car, but they said it's not worth any more than this.
What can I do next if I decide not to accept the offer? I've told the insurers I'll get back to them tomorrow.

Do you think 1750 is a fair offer? My car was in good, clean condition throughout and was in good working order. Fiat Punto 1.2 5dr hatchback 2001 Reg Low mileage.
Many Thanks.

Good Luck
i dont think that is a very fair offer at all but if they arent going to offer anymore, there isnt much that can really be done.someone wrote my car off in january whilst i was sat in it parked up and i received 550 pounds for it and that was a banger,it was a 1.1 1994 reg fiesta which had 1 months tax left and 2 months MOT so your offer seems very unfair
Thanks everyone. I searched on Auto Trader in the end for comparisons and also got a valuation off there that said my car was worth 1900 in a private sale or 2400 at trade. I told the insurers I wasn't going to accept their offer on the back of this and after much haggling they've offered me 1900 which I've accepted.
Thanks for all the advice.
