I've just bought a brand new wiper for my rear windscreen.. however when i use it, it seems to scrape the windscreen instead of gliding across it. Does anyone know why ? it's new and i've fitted it correctly, so what could it be ?

check the holding arm is in the correct groove on the blade. sometimes it jumps into the blade. compare it along both sides. if that is all ok then it may be off line, ie the arm is not exactly square to the sreen. check what way it makes the scraping and slightly twist the arm. in that direction, only slightly mind you. this allows the blade to flip over as it changes direction.
i did this once.daft as it sounds, did you apply lubrication in the form of water or was it a test run on a wet day.i am not trying to take the ----
