I've been wanting a Smart Car for years now and am quite close to being able to get one. I know that they are really cheap to run and insure etc. but I'm worried that if something goes wrong, repairs and parts would cost me a small fortune!

Are there any common faults with them and would parts etc be expensive? Any advice would be great!

In my opinion they are expensive and I've seen some people that can't even park them properly....

However this website may help

You will be ok for parts there are that many around now that you can get ssvg (copy) parts so not expensive, but if you did have a crash because they are quite cheap your insurance co may be more inclined to write it off!
Cheap? They are one of the most expensive two seater cars you can get ....

Insurance handler here - some parts on these Smart Cars are nightmares to get hold of - and I'm not always talking about obscure items. A lot of parts have to be sourced from Germany, which can take weeks, so even the simplest of repairs can take an age.

My outlaws have one though, and they seem happy enough with it.
