Think I was caught speeding this morning by a mobile speed van. His bonnet was facing towards me and he was parked on the central reservation. Is it true they can only clock your speside and back?

I am also only in the first two years of driving, I was told that there was a probation for the first 2 yrs and wondered if I will get normal fine and 3 points or more?

Can anyone help?

No, nor have i turned into Lewis Hamilton when i have driven in the past. The point is he does not seem to be worried about the consequence of his speeding only that he may have been caught.
Neil so you reckon that you have never once broken the speed limit?
If i said no i would be a liar. I am pointing out how he only seems worried he has been caught. Not a straw poll on who has / who hasn't sped in the past!!

Sigh.......................
i think the majority of people on here are being a little harsh on miller..lets face it: we've all broken speed limits to a greater or lesser extent - it happens- and luckily most of the time no other consequence has occurred other than maybe the odd fine or penalty.
im sure miller is fully aware of the potential consequences like we all are, but as he/she has said..they didn't realise it was happening...now tell me...has anyone ever not had a moment where they realise they have been daydreaming a little whilst driving..or your mind has wandered?...i certainly have.
I think Im more concerned that miller doesnt actually know what the limit was on that section of road! A newly qualified driver who isnt aware of the surroundings as well as speeding is a real worry.

And yes, i will admit to occasionally driving at 80 on a motorway but 20/30/40 and 50 I stick to
Well said mission

I have when driving in a different city or town not paid attention to the road signs and have been flashed.

Several country roads close to me are 60 then drop to 20 then up to 40 then down again in the space of a couple of miles.
Your licence will automatically be revoked if you build up 6 points or more within them two years.

If you have been done for speeding and recieve a ''fixed penalty notice'' from them, providing your not innocent its best to except the penalty notice, it will probably be 3 points and a 60 fine, if you contest this, and it goes to court, you could finish up getting more points, a bigger fine & court cost.

Ps, anyone who says they haven'y gone above the speed limit be it 5mph or 70 mph, is lying.
oh get off your high horse redcrx!

so what if miller is a newly qualified driver..i don't think that makes the slightest bit of difference in this situation.obvioulsy miller wouldn't be as experienced as you so there might be things he/she doesnt know yet and you do..thats what this is really about to you.. the fact that he/she has not been driving as long!
baremission.

might be things that he/she dosen't know yet.

Speed limits are not ''rocket science'' do you not agree?

no its not baremission, what it is to me is that a driver, regardless of number of years theyve been driving is unaware of whats around them. As a new driver Id hope they were more vigilant and wary of what could be a hazard or a warning as they have not had the number of years experience that makes some drivers more complacent at times.

I dont even own a horse :)
no but it isn't always clear is it!
for example: i never learnt that when there are no speed limit signs and there are street lights..that means 30..i had to find that out by reading it on the back of a bus!

perhaps miller hasn't come across this bus yet?
again redcrx...a momentary lapse in concentration...this happens even to the most vigilant among us..even you if you'd just admit it!
there are always speed limit signs when you enter a limited area baremission, there may not be repeaters but you will always pass a limit sign when it chages. and it isnt correct to say that street lights automatically mean a 30 limit, there are street lights in places on the M25
baremission.

i suggest you learn the highway code then, as it is in their.

When I came into work this morning on a dual carriageway with a 40mph speed limit I was bang on 40 and was getting overtaken constantly. people know the limit but just can't be ar5ed to stick to it and if you do see the tailbacks you cause and the abuse you get.

Still doesn't make speeding right but ffs if you drive a car you have broken the speed limit and some point you have'nt paid enough attention to the road.
ok street lights and in a built up area...the back of the bus is a mere, vague memory to me.
i just hate it when people are uptight about this kind of thing, when we all know that we have to be careful as drivers..and so does miller...but you feel the need to convey it in such a pompous manner.

lawrence..

"It is in THERE"

not

"It is in THEIR"
Maybe it is baremission.

But i know the highway code is not on the back of a bus?

So whos the more liable to have an accident. Me who spelt ''there'' wrong, or you who ''DOSEN'T'' know the highway code?

You decide
i know what i need to know thank you very much..i must do seeing as ive passed..otherwise why would they let me pass hmmm?

maybe you don't live in Hitchin.
