The midlands raceway is an excellent piece of uncrowded motorway, BUT it is patrolled by th epolice in performace cars. Watched someones day collapsing a few months back courtesy of a very fast policeman! Keep your eyes peeled!
No, it is not classed as a private road, any more than the Dartford Crossing or the Severn Bridges are.

The M6 Toll road is subject to all the normal road traffic laws and regulations.
Dartford Crossing is though private land... which is why they can charge you a lot of wad to get towed out.. Which I managed to do twice in one weekend some years back. Long Live the Dartford Crossing Company.

thanks eveyrone, i'll let the wife drive!!
The Dartford Crossing may well be private land, but it is a "road or other public place" as far as the Road Traffic Acts are concerned.
Plenty of roads at airports are on private land. However they are subject to all road traffic laws except taxation.
agreed judge. but you must know that under some cicumstances places are not under the jurisdiction of the constabulary. this includes supermarket car parks. the m25 is an adopted road and part of the wider network. private land is just that and therefore why farmers kids and royals can drive on their own land. luv n stuff from law stude.
i do believe that only 2 years ago there was some statute that put car parks under the police but not surre sat here how far it went. suffice to say that peolpel still drive too fast and ignore the direction arrows!
It depends on whether a local bye law adopts road traffic laws, as it does in the case of airports.
