i think you will find that the law that applies to cars,is the same for lorries,it would be illegal for you to use it on the road for those 4 days, but would be legal to drive to the testing station on the 28th as you have a booking.

thank you for that - its exactly what i thought. If there is anybody out there that knows for sure i would be grateful for a reply thanks so much
just checked with our mot garage, you can not officially use it on the road without a current mot,it must have a current mot to be on the road, hope that helps

oh how good are you!! thank you so much for taking the trouble to find out for me.
Actually I think you can. I have just checked my truck MOT and it is valid (as I thought) to the last day of the month. Therefore, although you haven't actually got an MOT, it would be valid until the last day of the month if you had one. I think you would be able to drive legally for the odd 4 days. You would certainly have an excellent argument if you were stopped. Best bet is to phone your local VOSA HGV test station and ask them, but I would say you can drive no problem. BTW, this does not apply to cars, as their MOTs are valid to a specific date, not the end of the month.
I've checked on this from my notes from when I took my CPC and it says that as HGV MOT's all run to the end of the month, a vehicle bought during a month must have an MOT by the end of that month next year, so you are OK to run for the odd 4 days.
