Basically, when i am driving along, the car does a mini kangaroo style jumping when the revvs get to about 2000.
don't see how your timing can be knackered. belt should be changed every 100,000 miles or 10 years. does it run ok otherwise?

All fine apart from this problem which developed yesterday.
Engine timing means that the spark plug sparks or 'fires' at the correct time ie. when the piston is on the compression stroke igniting the fuel and air mix.

As for your problem when was the vehicle last serviced? If its not been done for a while would reccommend getting a full service done including plugs.

I agree with tommy though it is highly unlikely to be the timing out.
checkt he connection on the coil pack where the ht leads clip on ive had a couple where the connection has beedn corroded and causes a misfire.
Engine timing is a vague suggestion by someone who doesn't know what their talking about.

Does he mean Ignition timing or Valve timing? If either are not correct they would affect overall performance not induce kangaroos.

As you don't know about cars it is best to get a garage to check it.

I have been informed that i may have some 'crap in my fuel system'.

Is this going to cost a lot to get sorted if it is?
how do u go from poor timing to "crap in the fuel system"!!! i would have a mechanic look at your car rather than a joiner.
