How much to replace a head gasket ?

The head gasket on my friends Rover 25 which has only done 37k miles has gone ,it's an 02 plate , think he was sold a bad one , but has to get it fixed , so any one got an idea of the cost ? Should he use a dealer or go on recs from
other people who have used a local one man garage ?

hi i charge �200 as the head will have to be pressure tested and skimmed you need head gasketset and new bolts

Get it done then sold this is a very common problem with rover 25's

Sorry I cant help with the cost but The head shouldn't need skimming unless the the engine overheated and it has warped. But as Donna has pointed out this is very common on the K series engine.
