I mean the water holder/tank in my car!
If you mean in the Coolant reservoir, then they could be bits of the radiator or heater matrix that has broken off. This could happen if there is corrosion posibly because it has been used with plain water with on anti-freeze that includes an anti-corrosion additive. If in the windscreen washer reservoir it could be part of a cleaning dispenser, I think called a Fuzz Bomb or similar that has broken up.
sounds like limescale to me too

Is there a chance of it because the head gaskett is ready to go or already gone? ut the engine temp stays pritty cool/warm, never over heats. Is a t-reg freelander 45k miles

The bits could be from the head gasket, they can have corrigated material, or could it be bits of thread from the head bolts.

Who do you think the head gasket is going are you loosing water from the head joint, or water in the oil, or into the cylinders.
