vauxhall astra keeps cutting out when slowing down and oil light constantly flashing what is this?

One of two things you oil pressure is low and you should not be driving the car or you will damage the engine or more likely the oil pressure switch is faulty and the engine management is shutting the engine down.

thanks for that i forgot to say the oil light flashes on when im slowing down all the time then it cuts out every now and then maybe 7 times to a journey and also the revs r low and sumtimes takes a few attempts to start back up could ur answer still be the solution

Have you actually checked the oil level ??
And yes, it could.
