Hi all. was wondering whether someone could help me. I have a ford escort si on an r reg and the other week the alternator packed in. I replaced it and checked it was fine which it is but it seems to drain the battery when i leave it overnight. It's a new battery so i guess it isn't that. Has anyone got a solution to this? I have checked the usual things like the interior boot light etc.....

sometimes an alternator can take power out of the battery if its faulty?

even though you have recently replaced it i would go and have it checked, it may be working fine when the engine is running but when its parked overnight its draining the power?

Cheers for that! I have noticed the alternator what i do have does make a bit of a whirring sound but nothing too bad. Could that be an indication something is wrong with it?
i said that out of experience mainly, i had the same problem with a ford P100 (sierra pickup) and after 2 new replacement batteries i finally got the alternator tested and it was that draining overnight?
