A normal diesel is normal.

A turbo deisel Has a turbine in the exhaust system, this turbine (turbo) is driven by the rush of exhaust gases which turns the turbo which in turn forces more air (oxygen) into the engine so boosting the power.
The Ford 'tdci' range of diesel engines are superb units. The good news also is that your Mondeo is not British built but either German or Spanish made.
Yes I agree with the previous answer. The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi has a strong engine and is chain driven.I find mine to be impressively rapid, and yet economical, seldom returning less than 50mpg, (confimed by the onboard computer and by brimming the tank versus mileage) This is the 130 version with six speed manual g'box.
