Hey, I would like to know how to go about learning to drive before my 17th and becoming a licienced driver on my 17th birthday i know some people who have done so and i would like to do the same i have been very keen to drive from an early age i love cars and i would appreciate any information you can give me on the subject.
Well if you know someone who has done it, why don't you ask them how it works?
You are not allowed to drive on public roads until you are 17 so you would have to learn on private land and then book your test and pass it on your birthday.
With the introduction of the driving theory test it is no longer possible to pass your practical test on the same day that your licence becomes valid.
You can only book a theory test once your provisional licence becomes valid i.e. in your case on your 17th birthday. It may be several days/weeks before a slot is available for you to sit this test. You are then only able to book a practical test once you have passed the theory test. It may be several days/weeks until a practical test slot is available.
I know some motoring schools who do learner driver courses for under 17's but they are on roads in private areas. The fees seemed much higher than average though at about 40-50 per hour.
