proposed new car tax

I have a 1999 mercedes slk 2300 will the proposed new car tax apply to me please?

I'm not sure if the government have announced an official 'cut off ' date but I have read in a few motoring magazines that cars made after 2001 will have their road tax calculated by the amount of CO2 per km they produce. I'm not sure about any plans for older cars yet, but I would prepare yourself for a bit of a kicking.

The changes reported in the newspapers do not effect cars registered prior to 2001, so they do not effect your car.
