Is there a Sat Nav that shows the height of the road you are on (eg has an altimeter).

I can map read and find my way, but just occasionally I would love to know how high I was.

There are plenty of hand held sat navs with altimeters - the information is of more interest to walkers and cyclists than motorists.

Some examples:

You can altimeters in watches, too. Or buy a standalone like this:

thanks both
I have a syrius snooper sat nav and this has a sub screen where it shows the signal strength of the satellites that you are logged onto. This gives an approximate hight but its not possible to show this on the main screen
As you want one for your car you won't get better that the 4.3 screen garmin nuvi just touch the car symbol on the sat nav map and it will show your altitude.

thank you toureman - sounds just the job. I'll give it to my OH for Christmas
Our garmin does that, I'm not sure of the model number but it's not a new one so I'd say most of them would do that nowadays!

excellent - it's just occasionally when you are driving over a high hill that you wonder how high you are )the Pennines last month).
