speedo off

I lowered my steering wheel on my vw passat last week and my speedometer has stopped working and the digits showing me how many miles I have left in the tank are very erratic, ive put the wheel back but its still off. any ideas ?

You have probably disturbed some wiring to the panel by adjusting the wheel, don't know what year ot model your care is.

check all connections on the steering column controls.
