how far did you travel, or how long did you run the engine, before you noticed?

have a read of this - there's a bit of a possibility that harm could have been done to the injection system.....

as soon as the engine started to cough and splutter i turned it off
thanks for the reply but what i wanted to know was if i could use the petrol i took out or would it be to contaminated
possibly, let it stand for as long as possible and dont try and be clever and use it all! did something similar recently, a truck was brought in with 200 worth of unleaded in it. drained it off and filled up with diesel. more than enough unleaded to go round...
If you have a petrol car you could try mixing the mixed fuel with a tank full of petrol in your car that way the mixture will be so diluted it will be ok....
just put a gallon in every time you fill up your car, that should dilute it enough.
I did the same ......... 20 petrol in to my diesel MG Rover before I noticed what i was doing, thankfully the fuel tank was really low, well into the red actually.
I syphoned it all out and now use the 20 ltres or so of Petrol/diesel mix in the lawnmower / strimmer... a bit smokey to start with but still burns.....

i did it a few weeks ago got some petrol from a works van that was diesle, had to take plugs out every day and warm them up with a blow torch, when car started it was like a tank pesonaly i would not use it unless there is a way of filterlring it
