Temperature Gauge not working on a 51 plate Vectra

The temperature gauge on my 51 plate Vectra is not moving and the car heater temperature doesn't seem to get as warm as it should.

Can anyone help?

when I had that it was just a thermostat change/

Asa temporary measure, if you only do short journeys, you could part block the radiator with cardboard.

However you must keep an eye on the gauge and take it out if it gets hot.

It is risky, so don't do it if you are not confident you can monitor it.
