Yellow Engine Warning Light

I've just had new CAT fitted on a 5 year old Peugeot 206, 1.1 engine. A couple of days later i was driving to work and the Engine Warning Light came on and stayed lit.

I have returned my car to the local garage today.

The Engine warning light used to appear months and months ago, intermittently, but then would go out after a minute or so. I am not sure whether it would be connected to the new CAT which has been fitted.

I've just called the garage now and they said they are about to check the emmissions on it - can that locate the problem?

If the garage cannot fix it i'll take it to my local Peugeot dealer tomorrow.

Sorry, I mean't to ask whether anyone would think the problem is related to the newly installed CAT converter?

Clearly your engine is yellow. What else would a Yellow Engine warning light be about? Are you saying your engine is in fact another colour?

i had something similar with my old astra, had the cat changed and it struggled through an emissions test, and the engine management light stayed on constantly.

My mate was a vauxhall mechanic at the time and he told me that you need to wait a few hundred miles for the carbon buildup to happen enough for the cat to be effective.

What he did which remedied the light was he disconnected my battery for a while and reconnected it, thus clearing the error codes on the ecu. make sure you have your radio code though!

I'm not sure if the same applies to your case; this was mine and my car was fine afterward
