adding unleaded to a diesel engine
4 Answers
In a senior moment we have inadvertently put unleaded petrol in our car tank -which is diesel. It was spotted quite quickly, so amounted to not much more than 5 litres. The tank was quarter full, so we filled it up with diesel, approx 40 litres, and since then each time it reaches half full, I fill it up again to continue to dilute the unleaded. Will the unleaded mix with diesel and eventually disappear, or will it always stay separated, and I assume on top, as it is lighter than diesel?
Many thanks,

If it had been the other way round you WOULD have been in trouble. Just keep an eye on it and watch out for water loss, or water out of the exhaust. You might encounter abit of smoke but not too much. If your car starts to smoke alot then take it to a garage. The other thing you can always do is run it to the garage and let them drain the tank!
