Hello I just got quoted �102 bridge stone or �125 Michelen is this a good price or am I being ripped off.

I think the code of the tyre is 205/45 17

Get prices there (including fitting by your local tyre place), then get the local tyre place themselves to match or better it. I used to pay around �92 for 205/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 or around �82 for Continental Contisport. Toyo Proxies are a good mid-range buy for a car like yours.

Lots of Chinese import fakes of big name tyres are to be found on Ebay, so be aware if you do go down that route.

Re: Toyo Proxies, are you aware that you've quoted the reinforced versions - don't need them for a Golf GTI, they are designed for much heavier cars (X5's and Range Rovers and the like) Just the normal non-reinforced are fine for your Golf.

Jeez! Ok, say you see a Michelin Pilot on blackcircles for �80 each and the dude on Ebay is offering 2 for �50 then odds on they are fake!! (assuming he says they are brand new and not used ones)
