My son has bought a used car, with good tyres, from a Honda main dealer and on the test drive it seem to want to steer slightly to the right. We've asked them to check the tracking but I wondered if these two items formed part of the MOT test.
Look up the following at www.motuk.co.uk/manual
Section 2
2.1 steering control
2.2 steering system
2.3 power steering
2.5 front suspension/wheel bearings etc
2.7 shock absorbers
Section 4
4.1 tyres
c. condition of tyres.
d. breadth/depth.
Hi Derek, if the car is toeing to the right there are one or two things at fault, under inflation of the tyre, as said alignment, when you get it done get a detail for future ref, also check your spare & the balance,as some of these Dealers can be very Sly, also get them to check the balance on your front wheels
MOT in theory should pick up or notice faults caused by bad wheel alignment assuming they are fairly obvious and advise , they dont actually carry out tracking or 4 wheel alignment as part of the test.
