by any chance, have you activated the immobiliser?

dont know about an immobiliser..last time this happened,it restarted with a push, but won't this time.
Started with a Push!!! have you got battery problems?
Question Author
don't think so..it turns the engine over quite fast and plenty of life in it.
It could be flooding. Is there a smell of unburnt fuel from the exhaust when you are trying to start it? To clear a flood, run the starter for a short while with the gas pedal pushed to the floor.

Also, check the plugs and plug leads. A poor spark can cause starting problems.
You cannot 'flood' a fuel injected car as it has no carb.
You CAN flood a fuel injected engine. Fuel injected engines will inject extra fuel when starting from cold and this can accumulate in the cylinders and wet the spark plugs. The cure is the same as for carburettor engines - turn the engine over for a minute with the gas pedal to the floor. Most engine management systems switch off the fuel if you do that.
Time for a full service, methinks.
