A colleague in my office has been away for six weeks leaving their car at home. Though the car engine has been regularly turned over when he came to using it again it wont move. The engine is ok and the bite is there but wheels won't move. Any ideas?
brakes seized/rusted on ??? quite common when a vehicle is left standing for a period of time, especially if the handbrake is left on.
Usually frees after trying to move it forward & reverse alternately usually with a loud clonk as it releases.
Thanks for your replies especially 4getmenot lol and yes it is a vauxhall. I have been told its a regular thing with vauxhalls and have got to bang the back wheels with a hammer to get it moving.
The AA climb underneath with a hammer and belt the daylights out of the drums.
On my Astra I just put it in reverse and start it rocking by engaging and disengaging the clutch. It climbs up on the suspension as you do it, then eventually there is a bang as the brake shoes come unstuck.
