write off D

I have been the owner of a car for 2 years & the car has been perfect to drive no problems. i have gone to sell it & the apparently my car is a class D write off, yes i should have checked this before buying myself but i didnt. my question to you all is what can i do now? i have a good car which i would like to sell but how can i? or do i have to scrap it? Thanks

Hi if you read the "terminology" of a Cat D write off its only classed as minor damage

"D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage sometimes stolen and found after claim has been paid, or cost of repair combined with difficulty obtaining new parts to enable a swift repair."

I would just sell the car BUT explain that it is a CAt D and be honest. Contact the DVLA they should be able to tell you exactly what was done to it / what happened. God luck

Depending on the age of the car it only has to have minimal damage to be a write off. Car spraying, dent repairs etc do not come cheap.

Hi,
I'm a manager in the motor-trade. The answer by 'rnchugg' is absolutely correct - just so you know. I drive an old Jag which was 'written off' because it had a VERY small dent on the front bumper - didn't stop body shops from quoting over �2,500 to put it right, hence a right off. I got it put right for �150.

A tip - unless you're buying from a main dealer, ALWAYS get an HPI check done before you part with your hard-earned.
