I was recently in a car accident where I pulled out from a garage and had a collision with another car. I was turning right out of the garage and the other car was coming from my right, i made it across the road and onto my side of the road, while i was doing this the other car had crossed the road and we had pretty much a head on collision. The impact was coming in at a slight angle so the drivers side of my car was more affected than the passengers.

My question is who would be liable in this situation? as when i spoke to the police they seemed to imply that it was my fault as i pulled out when the other car was to close to me forcing him to take evasive action which led to the collision

From how you've described it, you are entirely at fault for pulling out in to the path of oncoming traffic.

The traffic on the road has priority over those turning on to it - you should always wait until your way is clear.
Do I understand you were pulling out onto a road and the other car was already on that road ?( don't quite understand the bit about the other car having crossed the road).

If so yes, It sounds very much your fault
It seems the police are correct from how you have presented the case.
from the way this reads the other car swerved to the right to try avoid you which put it on the other side of the road. The alternative was to swerve to the left which normally would be the pavement, he made the right decision on the spur of the moment. I dont see how him doing this takes away the liability of you causing the crash by not checking the road was clear befor pulling out.
I agree. It does sound like your fault.. and if that is what the police also say - I doubt there is much point questioning it really since they are likely to be wrong in this instance.
You should never make any kind of manouvre that causes another driver to alter their speed or direction of driving.
Please try to be a bit more careful! So many people are hurt through lack of attention when driving!
I guess you are thinking there would have been no collision if the other driver hadn't taken evasive action. That won't wash, it was your fault.
