does anyone consider the latest design of eye glasses that some people are using to drive with are causing visual impairment.The type are the ones with wide side frames that are acting like blinkers giving drivers poor peripheral vision

Cant see anything wrong with them in fact I;d say they cover the eyes more

as an ex pro driver part of my driving medical was a check on my peripheral vision as even when using your mirrors it is possible have a blind spot and anything that impairs your vision can be dangerous

'Wide side frames' - do you mean the very wide arms?

I think those teeny weeny spectacles are just as bad - you really need to screw your head right round to be looking through the glass.

GB drivers must have a field of vision of at least 120� other than in exceptional cases when adaptation to a permanent loss of visual field can be demonstrated and has been approved by DVLA.

I totally agree with you woolley - I recently purchased some new modern framed glasses with wider side arms and when reversing out of a space in the car park, (despite turning my head !) realised I had a blind spot, when someone walked directly behind my car. Very scary.
