At just over 12000 miles per year its fairly average. For a Diesel engine though its still quite low, as long as its been looked after no reason it wont go on for a lot longer.

I have mk4 fiesta to trade against Clio, 35 pa to tax, 63,000 on its clock, gettin it for 2,800 + my car = 35,000 '01 plate immaculate condition just wunnerin if good deal, also years tax and mot.....
hibeeslass:

Let me get this right: Your car is an 01 Fiesta, 35,000 on clock with 1yr Tax+MOT. How many doors, what size engine?

You're hoping to get a 54 Reg diesel Clio, 63,000 on clock?
Your car in p/x plus 2800?

Is it a private deal or from a garage? What is exact Clio model, i.e. engine size, doors etc? Does it have full service history to verify mileage? Is it, like yours, taxed + MOT'd?
Have you test driven it to your satisfaction? Have you agreed anything in writing or is it just verbal so far?

Mileage on Clio, as has been said, appears to be average for its age.

Yes my car is the fiesta (1200 2 door) i was looking at the clio (1.5 4 doors) today on the forecourt of a used car lot (i have bought 2 cars before from them an they are really good) i asked what deal i could have and was offered my car + 2,800 and 1 years tax an mot. my tax and mot up mid august...TIA x
Hi again, hibeeslass:

I obviously have no idea of your budget, but do you realise that you could for example get a brand new car for probably not much more than your deal for this one would come to?

There are a few bargain basement cars which I wouldn't recommend but, for example, you could get a brand new Fiat Panda for around 5600 just now. Lovely little cars, 5 door, well equipped, very cheap to run and insure, and very well thought of by the motoring press.

Assuming that you may get around 1600 for your car selling it privately, add on the 2800 you've got in mind as balance for the 5 year old Clio, and you're little over a thousand quid short of a brand new car.

Just a thought, but if your budget's up to it, there are some very reputable online brokers (there are also a few dodgy ones!) who are worth looking at.

There's a good one called Carfile.net which is where I found the Fiat Panda. They're a family run business and there are no catches with them. It's up to you but just something for you to consider.

But if you'd rather go ahead with the Clio I'd either ask for a few hundred more for yours or a few hundred off the Clio.

Hope this has been of help. Good luck and good night.

Thanks you so much for all your help, i think i am going to go for the new car option, i want a nice wee economical car and after doing my sums i think that the Fiat would be a more viable route to go down. :0)
Hi again hibeeslass:

Brilliant, hope it works out for you. I'm far from being an expert but I've had a fair bit of experience in my time at this, so if you need any more pointers, I'll help if I can.

Best of luck.
