Motor tax renewal at the Post Office

Not a question, more a comment. I have renewed my car road tax at the Post Office using a renewal form sent by DVLA. At the bottom of the form is a panel in which I am invited to give the car mileage at time of renewal to assist in the prevention of fraud. Having taken my cash and given me the new disc, the Post Office then returned the renewal form to me. No account seems to have been taken of the mileage. Why bother with this panel in the first place?

I did mine yesterday and got the form back, too.. but there was nowhere to enter the mileage.

a bit pointless anyway, as I'm sure they could access the mileage via your MOT details.
Maybe they typed it in to the system?
