I have a max. 3k to spend on a diesel car. Used to have a VW Passat which was superb, not sure whether to go for another or try something else, Mondeo, Vectra, Omega even.

Any advice?

Cheers!

I've had three focus diesels, one 5-door hatch (1600) two 1800 estates and I've been very satisfied with all three in every respect. I must add however that I'm disabled and get a new motability car every three years. A friend of mine however has a 1600 zetec diesel about 6 years old and he has never had any problems with it

I used to be a courier, ran a Citroen van for over 330,000 miles in just three years with no problems, also a friend had a Renault van with similar mileage with no major problems, assume the car diesels would be just as reliable, only problem is trim is a bit plasticky and maybe build quality not up to German standards, but engine reliability fantastic!
anything german, ford spares grow off trees. avoid anything vauxhall
