I have recently seen 2 Honda Civics where the triangular exhaust pipe cut-outs in the rear bumper have been blanked off and have not been able to see any sign of an exhaust pipe.

Does anyone know what fuel these cars run on or if its just a trim level difference?

Yep, saw one on the M6 a few weeks ago & one pulling out of a petrol station the other day
It's just a lower trim model, I had one on loan.

I had one as a coutesy car I think it was because it was a small engine model I know it didn't have much grunt
the triangular exhaust cut outs are more cosmetic than any thing. if you look closely the tail pipe end can be seen inside. So you can blank off the triangular cuts and install a downward facing tail end, presto you have an electric car!!!!
