selling a car

in March 2007 my husband bought a brand new Freelander 2 TD4 GS diesel. Due to ill-health he wants to sell it. The dealer, from whom we had bought 5 Range Rover and Freelander over the years has not made an offer. The car has been used for the odd fishing and shopping trips and has 3571 miles on the clock. What price should he realistically ask for ?

My price guide suggests about �15,000 for private sale. Given the low mileage I would suggest this is the lowest figure you should get.
I am guessing the freelander is the 2.2 engine size 5 door on an 07 plate and not automatic and was around �23,000 new?
Whereabouts in the UK are you?

I read from the new vehicle invoice and the price is indeed touching �. 23.000 the registration YG07 and it is an automatic

ah, an automatic should add roughly �1000 to the value, so your looking at a minimum of �16,000
It is possible the dealer is struggling to move the stock they already have at the moment so are unwilling to buy in anything extra, if they did, it would not be an attractive price offered.
Possibly the best option is to find a nice independant car sales place and ask them for a value, or if you feel brave, a private off the drive type sale.
I don't want to see you ripped off !

Hi, a bit of safety advise, should you advertise your Freelander DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR LOCATION you motor can be shipped out in a matter of days never to be seen again, I would thank your dealer very much for his help & make a note of telling them that your custom in the future will go elsewhere, I would try Farmers ads, Ebay, to sell your car but beware of the people that suggest to you that the DO have a customer waiting, them are the cowboys that will rip you off, if a sale is in the making make sure you have an ab-led body person with you for obvious reasons ( with respect to your husband) do not let the buyer test drive unless accompanied other wise the worst could happen it does not matter if the have come with a dogs collar on!! I would be asking in the region of �18, 500 that way you are prepared to drop your price giving you the price as what has been stated, good luck I hope you well with your sale, but if unsure DO NOT SELL, & if the buyer is paying by cheque the car stops with you until it clears & make that clear.

You do not pay 10% fees to sell a car on ebay. The fees are totally different for motors than for dvds.

What you advertise at & what you get is the point of my Quote dancario, I sold a bit, & I have been around a bit, no-one gets the asking price as we know, You are better off asking what I have stated than asking the figures that have been quoted thus loosing more.

you will be lucky to sell in this economic climate at the price stated, even main dealers are struggling to sell cars with discounts!, also bear in mind that freelanders are not as popular as other makes.

Honest John from Saturday Telegraph rates these people..BCA. You might not get as much as a private sale but you would be safe and no callers at the house.
