Just picked up a 2nd hand Grande Punto, one strange thing that happens is all the doors lock as soon as I drive off. Is the a fault or a design feature? If the latter can it be switched off?

Thanks

Possible safety feature, stops invaders entering your car when you stop at traffic lights etc, but releases in an emergency.
It is designed to do this. My husband has this car. Dont think you can stop it, any more than that noise that continues until you have done up the seat belts.
it is a anti car jacking feature , many modern vehicles are fitted with it, not certain about Fiats but there is usually a way of disabling it...cant see any reason why you would want to..
If your handbook came with a VEHICLE SECUIRTY CARD this will give you a 5 digit code to disarm this system.
Please note though that this does not apply to ALL Grande Puntos. DEPENTS ON MARKET.

Thanks for the answers. Unfortunately the code card didn't come with the car. I do a lot of short journeys in and out my car so I just find it a bit irratating, also I was worried if it was a fault that I could lock myself out the car.
For your own safety, never mind the inconvenience keep the system in order, you hear it daily of people getting mugged, car jacking etc. unless you do not value your safety!!!
A girl I used to work with was trapped in a car after an accident and couldn't open the doors because they had locked themselves. She never locks the doors now.
