driving a left hand drive vehicle in the uk...

im considering buying a van that is left hand drive...its an automatic so the issue of gearstick an clutch is not a problem, but can anyone tell me whether theyve had any problems driving one in england

is judging the centre line space a problem? of turning etc?

just debating the pros and cons, dont want to get it an find its a pain - or even a bit dangerous - to drive, especially since its a van(motorhom\)

I don't think so.
(I have visions here of the pedals in the right footwell with the steering wheel over the left-hand side)

One of the cons, Joko, is that you may get loaded additional insurance premium, so worth checking out before you buy.

Judging where the white line is is not a problem, just the same as a RH drive vehicle judging where the curb is. Only con I can think of is pulling out further to view the road ahead prior to overtaking. As for the pedals, the layout is the same on LH & RH drive vehicles.

I drove a LHD Simca in the UK for years and the only problem I had was, as sigma said, seeing ahead to overtake. Make sure your wing mirrors are set right and pulling of from the side of the road should be no problem unless you are unsighted to the front. Even with a manual gearbox you soon get used to it.

I can echo the other comments about overtaking. I used to drive a imported LHD Mini (from Belgium!) and that was the only issue. You soon get used to changing gear with your right hand.

A quick glance in the RH door mirror every now and again can give an indication of where the centre line is.
