Car mileage and consumption

My fuel guage is broken, but ive found out that it does about 265 miles to around £25 worth of petrol. does anyone know what that is in litres/gallons? cheers

My fuel gauge hasn't broken but i always go by how many miles i get out of the money i put in. If I put 20 quid in i expect to do 180 miles and then it goes into the red.

Are you winding us up? 265 miles on £25 so you are getting 10/25 *265 = 106miles per £10

well no, of course not, otherwise i wouldnt ask, since its broke, iv put in £10 and £15 and tripped it at the beginning, and now the lights on and its done 267, its only a 1 litre polo

it's quite thirsty though, and gets through a lot of oil too.

I don't understand any of those figures or calculations at all, that's why i just put £20 quid in and when it is on the red i put some more in, usually after about 180 miles. Mine is an auto tho and they don't do the same as a manual

Found this:

petrol useage calculator

how much in money
£30

divided by how much per litre (1.06)
= 28.3

convert gallon to litres (divide by 3.78)
=7.49 gallon

then distance travelled 265 miles diveded by gallons
=35.4 mpg!
