How to change a wiper motor on Astra N reg.
Answers
I have just done it.
I got a replacement for about £30 inc postage from breakeryard. com. There were about seven breakers offering one for similar prices.
It took about an hour, and wasn't difficult.

All you need is a medium flat blade screwdriver (about 4-6mm) and a pair of pliers.
Using the screwdriver, insert it at the passenger end of the wiper (in Right Hand Drive countries, I don't know which end for Left Hand Drive), in the gap between the blade and the end-cap. Twist and pop the end cap off.
Now there is a soft metal pin on the top, poking into the rubber to hold it in place. Prise this pin up out of the rubber.
Slide the insert out, pop in your favourite generic wiper insert (I used Trico Multi-edge Premium), trim to length, push the pin back down with the pliers, and pop the end cap back on.

Society -- he said wiper motor not blades,
if im thinking correctly you have to remove the wiper arms so you can then remove the plasctic scuttle panel once you have located all the fixing screws. under that should be the wiper mechanism & motor,
go & practice down your local scrapyard at removing one. that way you will know for sure - if you dont have a haynes/workshop manual

Remove wipers, and remove plastic covers over screws. Remove screws and plasiic nuts that secure the black trim. (scuttle?) A lot of wriggling involved to clear the hinges.
Using a socket set remove the centre nut on the drive from the old motor. Two screwdivers and WD40 might be needed to prise the link off. Three nuts have to be removed to release the motor.
Fit the new one.
Loads of wriggling and swearing required to get the scuttle and drain thingy back in.
Good luck.
