i have recently bought a new car - transferred my insurance over to it etc

the old car is now on a private drive, it has no mot, insurance or tax (actually tax is valid until 31st jan, but i will not be renewing that)

the car is to be scrapped and is pretty much undrivable so it wont be used again.

do i need to declare it sorn?

thanks

spot on Eddie51.
If the car is not at a scrap yard by the 31st jan, get the SORN application in quick !
The last thing you want is a fine on a scrap car....
If your local to me I'll drag the old thing away for you.
why are you scrapping it when they have this new trade in thing going on?
joko will you SORN mine too, would save me a job, although I'm not scrapping it :)
You have to own the heap for 6 mths to use scrappage thing.
I think it was 2 years being the registered keeper of the vehicle in order to be able to benefit from that. Although I must admit I've not looked into it for a while....
It's 12 months, not 6. The car may not be over 10 years old, or the 'new' car may not be brand new, or joko could have got a better deal in the showroom by not using the scrappage scheme.
To be eligible for 'scappage' allowance old car has to be over 10 years old, you must have had car registered in your name for 12 months or more and it must be scrapped against a new car which has to be registered in same name as scrap car.
