i used to have an old car and the pickup on it was great - could be off like a shot at soon as touched the pedal

howwever my new one (new to me) feels sluggish in comparison...i dont think its a fault, its probably like most others, but i am used to the other an i wondered if there was anyway this could be enhanced?

either by me - something i can buy, or by a garage, and if so how much would it be?

thanks

The Passat is a lot heavier than the Pug and its only got the 1.9 engine. It will pull well but it will not be as quick off the mark.
My Octavia Estate has the 2.0 tdi engine and goes like mad - quite frightening actually.
While it was serviced I borrowed a 1.9 saloon and was amazed how sluggish it was. It felt wrong in comparison.
I think yours has a similar engine.

My daughters boyfriend runs his own *** garage and tells me not to touch the eBay things with a bargepole as they tell the ECU porky pies about the ambient temp in order to make it go faster but this has nasty side effects that I cannot remember.
I said *** garage but it came out as *** !?
Try again V A G !!
You can try Fuel additives which are street-legal. And also Have someone look at your engine, Like a Diesel tuning expert. get a Bench-test done on it by a approved VW Workshop. they will tell you if its running within the the specification.

And also get your Clutch checked out as well as any possible oil leak that might have contaminated the clutch lining. Also carry out a oil change and replace the air filter.
