The cam belt on my sons 06 Peugeot 206 has snapped with only around 20,000 miles on the clock.
I dont have details where he bought it from, whether from a Peugot dealer or other garage.
It was used when he bought it.
Does he have any grounds for compensation.given that the milage is so low.I asume its the original belt, seeing its only an 06.

The cam belt on my Astra snapped while I was driving it. It caused 3k worth of damage. Vauxhall fixed it because it only had 18,000 on the clock. I basically got a brand new engine. I think it was guaranteed for 30,000 miles.

Stamp your feet....they won't tell you this if they don't have to. It's only because my cousin worked at the garage that I found out.
belts are also based on time ie 4 years or 40,000(not certain what a 206 is) , wouldnt get anything from Peugeot its well out of warranty.
remember though the cambelt may have gone but it could be due to other factors, siezed tensioner, water pump etc.
Are you sure the 20,000 miles is genuine?
My Astra was about 4 years old when the cambelt snapped.
