Do as Ralph said and check the smell of the fluid. If it doesn't smell then it's more likely to be normal rain water.
Now, water can enter several ways. It could enter via the boot seal; rear light seals; metal work seal (where metal is spot welded together, it has sealant to keep water going through - this can be any where, wheel arch, rear quarter, floor boot sill etc.); rear window seal/quarter light seals; the holes where they fitted the tow bar.
Remove any carpetting/side panelling and see if you can see any traces of water. If you're unable to then it's a case of climbing into the boot with a good torch, closing the boot and getting a friend to jetwash the boot area! It will work!
