Car Tax and Insurance

Can someone settle an argument?
If you have no road tax but have an MOT, are you still insured?
One person believes a car is not road legal without tax therefore invalid insurance, the other believes you are insured because if not, alot of people who have cars under SORN declarations would not be covered if their cars were stolen on their driveways....
Who can help?!!

If you have vehicle SORN as long it not on the public highway you ok without mot but if you inform your insurance company that you have SORN the vehicle you can possibly reduce you car insurance to 3rd party fire and theft I hope this helps.
