Whilst folding down the back seats in my car to fit in my purchases from my local DIY store, I foolishly left a headrest from the back seat in the car park. I haven't been able to find it since and have been told it is illegal to drive without it but can't find a replacement anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can buy a preferably second hand headrest for a Rover 216 GSi?

just to put your mind at rest, it aint illegal. think of how many cars are around without them. in my opinion it would pass an mot unless your are using it as a taxi, in which case the rules are different.   as for second hand, you must have a breakers yard near you somewhere? brand new if avaiable would be megabucks from rover

Thanks for that.

I am worried that if someone crashed into the back of us, with no headrest whoever was sat there could have their neck broken.

We don't have a breaker's yard near us or in a 20 mile radius that I know of.

Thanks again U64paul

We've already emailed a lot of online breaker's yards and haven't had a response.
We've just located a local-ish breaker's yard that may be able to help, so we hope to have the problem sorted soon.

I used to be a MOT tester and it isn't illegal.

The only thing I can recommend is phone the scrapyards rather than emailing them.  Keep trying and hopefully you'll find one!  BTW  What year is the 216?  The Rover 200 & 400 series would have used the same headrest but obviously different trims.  GSi's were very rare in non-1.6 models so you'd have to look for a GSi to get exactly the same trim.  If you're not fussed then any 200/400 will do (assuming yours is Rover 1990 - late 90s model).
