Re-spraying a car

I love my car and don't want to change it but the paintwork is looking dull and faded. I want to have a re-spray but all the men I say this to tell me I'm mad and not to bother. Why would they say this?

Didn't see that thread, I think .... know everyone at Saint Athan! I was there 10 years : )
Lived on West Camp, worked in 8Sqn EROS. East Camp (trainee side) Had a gf in the village, and my b. acc. is still in Llantwit Major : )
Not the VC10's there tho, I don't think. Brize N. does all the deep work in Base hangar.
