vw polo stalling

my vw polo '98, 1.6, 43 000ks (tip top condition) stalls when going around a slight incline but starts up again perfectly, and with a/c it can sometimes stall even without corners. One other thing...the car sometimes loses revs when I accelerate, then it picks itself back up...any ideas?
its a recent purchase and the previous owner was using regular unleaded?

a lot of mk4 polos had stalling problems as mine did. it is usually down to a dirty throttle body or a broken coolant sensor. mine would stall while on full lock due to the power steering and also felt very hesitant under acceleration
