Hi all

My friend purchased an Audi A4 1.8T back in march, brand new 04 reg. The bonnett has started to change colour (it's black) losing it's "newness" if you like.

When we had a look, there is no protective foam on the underside of the bonnett to stop the heat from the engine. When taking it back to Audi, there response was that the 1.8T doesn't need foam!

This cant be right can it? anyone else had a problem?

Foam under the bonnet is usually used to soundproof the car; make the car sound quieter and not there to protect the bonnet from heat.  Remember that many cars from yesteryear never had foam under the bonnet and they always had good paint work.
