Can you get a parking ticket if you park facing the wrong way in a one way street?

This has just been asked by a friend on FB....I would presume the answer is Yes.

(when asked how she managed it she said she drove up the street the wrong way to get a parking space)

Im going to correct myself on the Sign Ummmm It should be blue with a white arrow but that does not get away with what she has done, it all depends who See's her, How many have done It? I have a few times in the course of my previous job.

A friend of mine did exactly the same thing and got a ticket. When she phoned to ask why they said it was because she would have to have driven along a one way street the wrong way to get there.

So it would seem that the answer is yes!

There are 2 issues here:
1. No it is not illegal to park facing the wrong way on any street.
2. How the car came to be facing the wrong way is irrelevant and no prosection for driving up the wrong way would be sucessful unless backed up by evidence of witnesses or video. A one way street does not exclude the possibilty that you can reverse down it as long as you are moving in the correct direction.

Of course YES you would receive a parking ticket also you would receive a ticket for facing the wrong way in a one way street.Don't forget the police would get involved and the one way street offence would carry points on her licence and £60 fine .I have seen someone reverse up a one way street so as to park his car ,not only did he get fined for the driving offence he was also uninsured,car was towed and crushed..It is sometimes ok to try to get away with stuff but if the men with their flashing blue lights see you big problems could follow .

Quite a few years ago - before points on licence system was in - a friend and I were pushing my non-starting car backwards up a one-way street as it was a slight incline where I might be able to push start.

PC (admittedly not a warden) saw us and threatened prosecution as we were travelling the wrong way even though the car was facing the right way!!

of course you can reverse in a one way street

most competent drivers will reverse into a parking space as it is possible to get into a smaller space in one move by reversing rather than going in front ways (unless you like to mount the kerb)

Yes you can reverse park. You can't drive forward facing the wrong way though. So even if she had done a 3 point turn she still would have had to go forward at some point.
