a) Sit so close to the steering wheel that it must be digging into their chests?! I was always taught that you need to be at just short of arm's length from the wheel to be in total control.
b) Place their sat nav slap bang in the middle of the windscreen and directly in their eyeline, thus blocking their view?!
c) Sit in the middle lane of a 3-lane carriageway when there is nothing in the inside lane?! Or worse, sit in the outside lane when there is nothing in the inside 2 lanes?!
a) Short legs? I cringe when I see this. Such bad positioning.
b) Cos they are stupid.
c) This is my biggest bugbear SurreyGuy. Really bloody annoying. I put it down to laziness.
c...maybe they know thye have to turn soon, but aren't sure whether left or right...and dont want to have to suddenly have to get across 2 lanes....? and also just because its a lane ...so why not...?
joko, re: c) I was referring to a straight piece of carriageway that is MILES from a turn off/junction! The Highway Code states "keep left", does it not?
a) I don't know but if their airbag goes off they will be in big trouble.
b) no idea.. I put mine in the bottom right of the windscreen. I wouldn't be able to reach it in the middle as (see a) above) I don't sit on top of my steering wheel.
c) MLO drivers.. Middle Lane Only. really bloody irritating, they just get in my way!
well the first one is more than likely because as a few people have said they have short legs, my daughter is only just over 5foot so has to have the seat pulled forward, not a crime is it???
so what is the suggestion for short legged drivers?
stilts?
I have moved my seat forward for the same reason, but lets not overstate it, it is never to the point where the wheel is digging into our chests, neither is it so drastically close that it makes driving the car difficult.
I saw a child safety advert the other day showing a baby strapped in correctly, looking backwards in one of those child cradles in the front seat - the ad pointed out that if you have an airbag and there's an accident, the child will shoot forward into the back seat....
I have a bad back sara, I need the seat upright, personally I dont have a problem driving but I would hate to think of surreyguy worrying about us.. ;)
