audi Vibrates

hi everyone i have a audi A4 1996 model what happens is on motorway when i go over 70 it Vibrates

i had tracking done it still Vibrates can anyone help

Are the wheels balanced? Also check the tyres for bulges and other irregularities.

Yeah, I'd go with loosehead on this. Try getting your wheels balanced. Any good tyre depot will do this for you for a small fee, about four quid a wheel.

If the tyres are undamaged and it still does this after having your wheels balance then enquire at several garages if they can balance the front wheels whilst they remain on the car.  (the majority of wheel balancing involves removing the wheel and then balancing it on a special machine).

We used to have a special balancer that would work by jacking the vehicle up and pushing the balancer onto the wheel which would then spin it.  You'd then balance it.  This means it also balances the drive shafts, hub, discs etc. and would cure the problem.  Only disadvantage is that make sure you paint one of the wheel studs and a bit of the wheel so you know where it is lined up if you have to remove the wheel!

if your car is fitted with alloy wheels one may be buckled causing the vibration get your wheels checked out by a tyre dealer

I usually found that kind of vibration, above 60mph, was traceable to the rear whells being out of balance, itis also an indication of a worn propshaft on rear wheel drive vehicles, usually only covers a small sped range, say starts at about 60 and would dissapear about 70, unless it was a serious buckle, but then it would vibrate almost all the time then.
