I would advise a good pair of polarising sunglasses... gets rid of nearly all glare.

Why, because you will see the headlights before the vehicle.

I do at the moment when it's around 5-6pm when it's not so dark you need full headlights on but it just helps others spot you quicker, especially if you have a dark car.

with the glare of low sun you can be lucky to see anything.

I agree cazzz if the sun is behind you then the oncoming car gets the full glare and dipped headlights, IMO wont be worth squat

Since 1990, all vehicles manufactured or imported into Canada must have a daylight running lights system. As soon as you put the car into gear, the headlights automatically turn on, although not to the same intensity as at night-time. I guess the government agreed with what Sigma said in his/her 1530 post.

My Dh's motorbikes all have always on headlights....can see the point in general but not in the low sun circs of the OP
